Try it Tuesday – Minecraft with Perler beads

My daughter has decided that the theme for her birthday party is going to be Minecraft. Did you know that there isn’t a lot of stuff out there for Minecraft? Not that it really matters as I prefer to make things myself. Of course, I went to Pinterest for ideas and found these Minecraft tools and weapons. First of all, I didn’t really know that they were sold as a set on Etsy… admittedly, I didn’t look very far except to take the idea and show it to the kids. Here they are on Etsy for purchase (these are magnets) through Gumball Ninja.

Anyhow, I showed the picture to the kids, gave them some Perler beads and left them alone. Not only did they make the tools and weapons, but they had a great time making a lot of other things from the game. I thought they were being very original… of course, I look on Etsy now and see that it’s all been done. Of course, they still came up with the designs (other than the tools and weapons) on their own which did take some imagination and creativity. My plan was to make these into necklaces for the kids as party favors. But my kids decided that they would prefer they remain without a chain or anything so that they can just be played with as toys.

This is a project that sits out and the kids make a few each day, I iron them as I see them completed. I’m so glad to have found a project that they enjoy and that uses up this abundance for Perler beads that I’ve been hoarding.
